HEALEY J I & N SCHOOL – A CASHLESS SCHOOL

Kirklees Council are no longer accepting cash and cheques payments, and as a result schools cannot send cash for banking via the council security service.  This means that we will become a cashless school starting from Tuesday 5th January 2016. School dinners and trips will be payable using Parent Pay, a secure on line payment method.  Activation letters for Parent Pay accounts will be sent to all parents who have not yet activated their account.  If you do not want to pay on line, you can pay cash at any Pay Point location, but must first obtain a payment card (for dinners) or a bar coded letter (for trips) from the school.  Please contact Mrs Stephen in the office for help and advice on Parent Pay.

If your child brings sandwiches, you will need to provide a sandwich box, which is clearly named.  As you can imagine, many lunch boxes are identical and neither the children nor the staff know which is which!  Please try and ensure that your child has a healthy selection in their lunchbox as we actively encourage healthy eating in school.

Our cook, Mrs Cloete, makes wonderful meals, fresh every day and the children can choose a traditional meal OR use the jacket potato & pasta bar.  This has proved to be very successful.

If your child has specific dietary requirements please contact us.

UNIVERSAL FREE SCHOOL MEALS:   Following a new government initiative, all children in Reception, year 1 and year 2 are entitled to school dinners free of charge.   We encourage all parents to take up this option to ensure that each child receives a hot, healthy and nutritious meal daily.

IMPORTANT - If you are in receipt of benefits you STILL NEED TO APPLY for Free School Meals as you will then also be entitled to free milk.  For every child receiving free school meals, their school receives more money in the budget so by registering you are also supporting your child’s school.

IF YOU THINK YOU MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR FREE SCHOOL MEALS YOU CAN EITHER:

apply online at http://www.kirklees.gov.uk/leisure/sportHealth/freeSchoolMeals.aspx  or call 01484 221928 and someone will complete the web based application with you over the phone or alternatively, you can call into a Customer Service Centre to complete the application.

Thank you for supporting our cashless initiative.
