Year 4 Virtual Reality Visitor 8/11/18

LKS2 had a virtual reality visitor today. Year 3 were taken on an underwater adventure to the Great Barrier Reef and year 4 were taken back in time to Ancient Rome - they saw the Colosseum, a gladiator fight and an old Roman city. The children have LOVED this and spent the whole session gasping in awe.

4CC are designers for WWF

4CC have been designing canvas bags to sell in order to raise money for the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) by adopting one of their African animals. As a thank you, the WWF has sent the children some presents and a hand written card. Well done, year 4!

Father Gordon's visit- 17th October

Father Gordon visited school on 17th October to do a question and answer session with 6RC.
Children were given the opportunity to ask Father Gordon questions about Christianity.

Nursery News 17/7/18

Our Nursery children have been building boxes using their DIY skills ready for the new children who are joining us in September to use. They have learnt some amazing life skills; following instructions and working together. We hope they'll be able to help you at home the next time you're making some flat pack furniture.

Reception News 4/7/18

We have been enjoying the warm weather in our outdoor area this half term. We have been hunting for minibeasts, exploring with water, paint and sand and practising our writing skills. We have learnt how to share and take turns and we have developed our confidence in 'having a go'. We have been fantastic learners!

Nursery news 4/7/18

Our youngest learners are making the most of their outdoor provision and the beautiful weather we are having at the moment. They have made their own pool to cool down in, have had a trip to a local garden centre and are enjoying playing in their own garden centre roleplay area as well as planting. The nursery children have also grown their own raspberries, which they are enjoying eating!

4CC are published authors

This is the book that 4CC class entered into with a piece of poetry. We had 24 offers to be published and 22 pieces were actually published. 4CC are all really proud of themselves being published writers. Well done everyone!

4CC Class Assembly- The Wild West andThe Greatest Showman!

4CC have been learning about the Wild West and the Greatest Showman. They shared their knowledge, performed some amazing drama pieces and made the hairs stand up on everyone's arms whilst singing 'This is me'. Well done 4CC, Miss Coates and Mrs Knapton!

Kirklees Music Festival- 26/6/18


Our choir represented us brilliantly at the Kirklees Music Festival. Thank you to Mrs Medley and Mrs Garforth for accompanying the children, the children who performed and the parents who supported this event.

Year 1 visit Chester Zoo 26/6/18

We had a hot, but amazing day at Chester Zoo. We had the chance to meet lots of animals up close and were even there whilst they were recording for the 'Secret life of a zoo' which is shown on channel 4.

Fanwood Family Camp 22nd, 23rd and 24th June

Many of our school families came to enjoy a camping weekend full of new and exciting experiences. A huge thank you to the members of staff and their families that gave up their weekend to support the camp and made it such a huge success.

Year 5- Carry my story

We joined up with Fieldhead Academy to work together on the Carry My Story project, which culminated in us sharing our stories, with our familiy members at a large Kirklees-wide event. Thank you to all the families that supported us with the project.

Swimming Gala 19/6/18

A huge well done to our swimming team who won won 4 medals and the trophy for the best banner, the most successful team we've ever had!

Former pupil, Dr Ashton, visits school

Dr Chloe Ashton is a past pupil of our school and has just graduated from University with a first class degree, with honors, in medicine. She starts her career as a junior doctor on 1st August at St James in Leeds.
Chloe talked to the children about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and how to keep your internal organs healthy. She explained how doctors can help people be healthy. She also brought in artifacts for the children to look at.

4/5/18- Early Years trip to St Leonards Farm

Sport Relief 23/3/18

We had a wonderful day with Batley Bulldogs doing sporting activities. As a school we raised £170 for charity. Well done everyone, you've done us proud!

4CC- STARBOOKS 16/2/18

Miss Coates' class combined two of their loves- reading and chocolate and opened their own cafe for the afternoon- Starbooks. Sharing books and homemade chocolate delights with their parents, the class made a profit of £30 from the event too!

Valentines Disco 14/2/18

An amazing time was had by all the children who came to the disco and raised funds for the PTA. Many thanks Mr Farrow for providing us with a disco and to all the staff that supported the event too.

2CV are superheroes- class assembly 8/2/18

Mrs Virr's class did an amazing assembly all about their topic of superheroes. There was some fabulous acting and some reading of superb stories. 2CV really showed how hard they are working in class. Thank you to all the parents that came to support their children.

12/1/18- Year 3 Our Stone Age visitor

Year 3 has a Stone Age visitor, who came to show them what life was like back then. The children had a brilliant, educational, fun filled day.

Reverse Advent

Our Head boy and Girl, Robbie and Yasmin, have taken the reverse advent food that our reception classes have collected over the last few weeks to Batley Care and Drop In Centre . They were surprised by the amount of people who need help at this time of year. Thank you to all parents that donated food items.

Goodbye Mr Skeffington! Mr Skeffington came to say goodbye to us 13/10/17. We had a special assembly celebrating Mr Skeffington's 27 years at Healey School. We will miss you Mr Skeffington, enjoy your retirement!

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Cross country team

Our Year 5 girls team and Archie got through to the Kirklees Cross country final on 10/10/17. Well done everyone, you represented us brilliantly!

School visit from Tracy Brabin, MP for Batley and Spen

A huge ‘Thank You’ to Tracy Brabin, Shadow Minister for Early Years Education and local MP for Batley and Spen, for visiting Healey School on Friday 29th SeptemberMrs Brabin praised all our hard working staff and thought that our children were absolutely delightful (which of course they are!). 

Mr Farrow, our Chair of Governors, was in his element in speaking about political issues and challenges that schools face, especially with considering offering 30 hours of Nursery provision to those entitled. 

We look forward to seeing Mrs Brabin again in the near future, to show off our exciting school developments.

Harvest lunch

Some of our children had the opportunity to prepare a harvest lunch and then share it with their parents and carers. Thank you to all the staff involved.
