Extra-Curricular Activities

Clubs

At Healey School we endeavour to provide a curriculum that is rich, broad, balanced and purposeful for all of our children. The opportunity to choose from a range of exciting extra-curricular activities enables children to explore their individual interests. Activities will run for approximately one term (though some dates may be subject to change)

It is expected that parents take responsibility for the collection of children promptly after each club. All clubs will commence from 3.20pm until 4.20pm with the exception of some specified sports.

Sports Premium

Our school has bought into the School Sports Partnership in our local area to give the school opportunities to make links and have staff development chances. Through the partnership we have links to local clubs and coaches, giving us possibilities to use these links in curriculum time and after school.

The partnership offers a large variety of festivals and pathways to national tournaments. These happen both during school time and out of school hours. There are a variety of sports clubs on offer throughout the year in our extra-curricular programme including football, Hi5 netball, rugby, dance and athletics. We have forged links with some other local schools in anticipation of having school teams to compete in matches.

Primary Sports Funding

We have already used some of this funding to join the Schools Sports Partnership and intend to use a lot of the remaining money for staff development. This will enable us to deliver sport, health and physical activity through a high quality curriculum through well trained staff. This will happen in a variety of ways. We will use outside coaches to deliver high quality lessons in curriculum time with staff present to develop their personal teaching skills. The session will also be videoed to enable across school staff development through the sharing of good practice. There are also courses available through the sports partnership and the authority that the staff will attend in accordance with need. This funding will also help us as a school increase participation in many sports and also help us to create a more inclusive curriculum by giving the children the chance to have a go at sports such as golf in curriculum time.

Primary PE & Sports Premium 2017 - 2018

Our vision at Healey J I & N School is to ensure all children enjoy physical education and sport. Through physical education and sport we aim to improve health and well-being, to promote active participation and lifelong learning and for each child to fulfill their potential. To achieve our aim we will focus funding on:

  • Improving high quality PE
  • Provide a range of extra-curricular activities and sports provision.
  • Provide competitive opportunities.
  • Work in collaborative partnerships with pyramid schools to develop sporting pathways for all pupils.
